Our review method

Every verdict should show its work.

We separate verified facts, field observations and editorial judgment so readers can see exactly what supports a recommendation.

1. Define the dog and job

“Best” is incomplete without a use case. We define dog size, environment, activity, risk and owner constraints before evaluating products.

2. Verify primary sources

Specifications, network support, warranty terms and subscription prices are checked against manufacturer product pages, manuals and support documents. Every commercial guide shows its last review date.

3. Calculate ownership cost

Required memberships, renewals, replacement parts and proprietary accessories belong in the decision—not in a footnote.

4. Separate research from testing

A desk review is labeled as research. A hands-on review documents the conditions, duration, dog and measurements. We do not imply physical testing from product photos or third-party reviews.

5. Apply the same decision frame

GPS trackers are compared on coverage model, update behavior, battery routine, fit, durability evidence, total cost, privacy controls and recovery workflow.

6. Correct and refresh

Material corrections are made promptly. Competitive buying guides are reviewed at least quarterly or when a manufacturer changes hardware or plans.
