Does the Fi collar work in the UK? Yes, since 2 March 2026
Does the Fi collar work in the UK? Yes, it does. The answer changed on 2 March 2026, when Fi launched officially in the UK on the O2 network. Almost everything else indexed on this question predates that launch and wrongly tells you Fi is US only. This page sets out the verified UK position: what the Fi collar costs in the UK, which models you can buy, why a US-bought unit will not work here, and how Fi stacks up against the trackers in our best dog GPS trackers guide.
One honesty note before anything else. No Fi unit has been on our bench yet, US or UK spec. Every fact on this page is verified from official sources as of 29 August 2026, and we say clearly below which claims are Fi's and which are ours.
The launch facts: Fi arrived in the UK on 2 March 2026
Fi announced its UK launch in a Businesswire press release dated 2 March 2026, naming O2 as its UK network partner. The launch brought a dedicated UK storefront at fitracking.com/en-gb, pricing in pounds, and official support for UK customers. The UK lineup at launch: the Series 3+ collar for dogs, the Fi Mini, and the Fi Mini for Cats.
That single date is why so much of what you will read about Fi elsewhere is wrong. For years Fi was genuinely a US-only brand, and thousands of indexed articles, forum threads and comparison roundups still say "Fi is not available in the UK". They were correct when they were written. They are not correct now, and most have not been updated since the launch.
The O2 partnership matters more than the press release itself. A GPS dog tracker is only as useful as the mobile network it reports over, and Fi's UK units are built and provisioned for UK coverage from the start. That fact is also the root of the biggest trap on this page: US Fi hardware uses US LTE bands and does not work here at all, which we cover in the catches below.

Fi UK pricing: the collar is free, the membership is not
Fi does not really sell you a collar in the UK. It sells you a membership. The hardware comes with it. On fitracking.com/en-gb the device is listed as complimentary with a membership plan, so the number that matters is the plan you choose, not a price tag on the collar.
| Plan | Price | Effective monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly rolling | £19 per month | £19.00 |
| 6 months | £99 | £16.50 |
| 12 months | £189 | £15.75 |
| 24 months | £339 | £14.13 |
Two softeners are worth knowing. There is a 30 day risk free trial, so you can return the setup within the first month if it does not suit your dog. And Fi offers a 5% multi-pet discount if you run more than one tracker on the account.
The commitment maths are straightforward. Paying £19 a month for two years costs £456, whereas the two year plan costs £339, a saving of £117 for locking in. Against the wider UK market, though, Fi sits firmly at the premium end. Most UK rivals charge roughly £40 to £149 up front for the hardware and £3 to £7 a month on committed plans. We break the whole market down, brand by brand, in our dog GPS tracker cost guide.

Which Fi models you can buy in the UK
As of 29 August 2026, the UK range on fitracking.com/en-gb consists of three models:
- Fi Series 3+: the flagship dog collar and the model most people mean when they search for "Fi collar UK". It is not yet on our bench; everything we say about it comes from official sources.
- Fi Mini: the smaller, lighter option in the range. Note the early UK battery complaints we cover in the catches below before choosing this one.
- Fi Mini for Cats: the cat version of the Mini.
The Fi Ultra is not sold in the UK. It remains a US-only model. If you see an Ultra offered by a UK reseller, importer or marketplace listing, it will be a US unit, and as explained below a US unit cannot connect to UK networks. There is no workaround. It is a hardware limitation, not a settings problem.

The catches: read these before you commit
A US Fi collar will not work in the UK
This is the catch that costs people real money. US-purchased Fi units are built for US LTE bands and do not work on UK networks. If you are moving to the UK with a Fi collar, your existing hardware stops tracking when you arrive, and no amount of app configuration will revive it. The same applies to units bought from US sellers on eBay or forwarded from American retailers: they may look identical, but they cannot connect here. The only working route is a UK unit on a UK membership from fitracking.com/en-gb.
The membership-only economics
Because Fi bundles the hardware into the membership, you never own a tracker that works independently of an active Fi plan. Stop paying and the collar stops tracking. Over two years the committed cost is £339. For comparison, a Tractive DOG 6 costs £59 from Tractive's official eBay UK shop plus €120 of subscription over the same two years on its cheapest Basic rate, and PitPat sells a £149 GPS tracker with genuinely no monthly fees at all. Fi's bundle is tidy, but you are paying a clear premium for it, and the value case rests on the hardware and app being meaningfully better. We cannot yet confirm or deny that for the UK unit.
Early UK Trustpilot themes
Early UK Trustpilot reviews report two recurring complaints: Fi Mini battery life of around a week against marketing claims of months, and false escape alerts. To be clear, these are other owners' reports, not our findings. We have not verified either on our own bench. We flag them because they are recent, specific and consistent, and because battery runtime and alert accuracy are exactly the two things we will measure first when our UK unit arrives.
Fi vs Tractive in the UK: a quick comparison
The head-to-head most UK buyers actually face is Fi against Tractive, because the Tractive DOG 6 is the obvious established alternative and the one tracker in this comparison that sits on our bench, its test cycle under way. Here is how the two stack up on verified facts.
| Factor | Fi (UK) | Tractive DOG 6 (UK) |
|---|---|---|
| Where to buy | fitracking.com/en-gb | Official Tractive eBay UK shop (tractive.com has no UK locale) |
| Hardware price | £0, included with membership | £59 |
| Rolling monthly plan | £19 | €13 (Basic; Premium has no monthly billing) |
| Cheapest committed rate | £14.13 a month equivalent (£339 for two years) | €5 a month (Basic, two year plan) |
| Two year total | £339 | £59 plus €120 |
| Subscription billing currency | GBP | EUR, even for UK customers |
| Our bench status | Not yet on our bench; verified from official sources | On our bench now, test cycle under way |
Two oddities on the Tractive side deserve a mention. First, tractive.com currently has no UK storefront: UK visitors see euro prices, and the sensible hardware route is Tractive's official eBay UK shop at £59. Second, the company has been busy at the corporate level, acquiring Whistle in August 2025 and then being acquired itself by Bending Spoons in May 2026.
On pure cost, Tractive wins comfortably: even paying in euros, two years of ownership comes in at well under half of Fi's £339. Whether Fi's hardware and app justify the premium on UK soil is precisely the question we cannot answer honestly until a UK unit has been through our bench tests.

Our testing status: what we know and what we do not
We have not tested any Fi unit ourselves. Nothing from Fi, US or UK spec, has been on our bench. Everything on this page is verified from official sources as of 29 August 2026, and it is worth being precise about what desk research does and does not tell us.
It tells us about the product on paper: the collar-first design, the charging arrangement, the membership model and the escape alert concept are all documented by Fi. It tells us nothing reliable about UK performance. GPS fix behaviour, alert latency and battery runtime all depend heavily on the mobile network the unit runs over, and no official page can settle those for O2. Quoting Fi's marketing figures as if they were measurements would be exactly the kind of shortcut we built this site to avoid. We will not do it.
When the UK unit lands, it goes through the same protocol as every device we cover, documented on how we test, and this page will be updated with dated, measured results.

Questions owners actually ask
Does the Fi collar work in the UK?
Yes. The Fi collar has worked in the UK since 2 March 2026, when Fi launched officially with O2 as its UK network partner. You buy through fitracking.com/en-gb, the device is included with membership, and plans run from £19 a month down to £339 for two years. Older articles claiming Fi is US only are out of date.
Will my US Fi collar work if I move to the UK?
No. A US-purchased Fi collar uses US LTE bands and will not connect to UK networks, so it stops tracking when you move here. Fi's UK devices run on O2. If you are relocating, you will need a UK unit on a UK membership. Your US hardware will not connect here regardless of account settings.
How much does the Fi collar cost in the UK?
The Fi collar itself costs nothing in the UK: hardware is included with a membership. Membership costs £19 a month rolling, £99 for six months, £189 for a year or £339 for two years, which works out at £14.13 a month. There is a 30 day risk free trial and a 5% discount for additional pets (prices checked 29 August 2026).
Is the Fi Ultra available in the UK?
The Fi Ultra is not available in the UK. It remains a US-only model as of 29 August 2026. The UK lineup is the Series 3+ for dogs, the Fi Mini and the Fi Mini for Cats. If a UK seller offers you an Ultra, it will be a US unit that cannot connect to UK networks.
Is Fi better than Tractive in the UK?
Fi versus Tractive in the UK comes down to cost model and evidence. Tractive's DOG 6 costs £59 plus €5 a month on a two year Basic plan. Fi costs £339 for two years with hardware included. The Tractive DOG 6 is on our bench with its test cycle under way, whereas our Fi verdict waits until a UK unit joins it.
